The Swedish Knowledge & Research Centre (SKRC) welcomes passionate and committed individuals to join our Volunteer Researcher Program. This unique initiative invites researchers, postgraduate students, and experts from Sweden, the EU/EEA, the MENA region, and GCC countries to contribute their skills and knowledge to high-impact research and development projects.

Who Can Apply
We welcome applications from:
- Postgraduate students, early-career researchers, and academic professionals.
- Specialists in science, technology, engineering, environmental studies, health sciences, AI, or related fields.
- Applicants with a strong interest in research collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Note: The program is unpaid. Selected volunteers receive professional guidance, networking opportunities, and access to SKRC’s advanced research environment.

Duration
Volunteer placements range from 3 to 12 months depending on project needs and researcher availability.
Application Process
- Confirm Your Eligibility
- If you are an EU/EEA citizen: You may join without a work permit, but must register with Swedish authorities if staying longer than 3 months.
- If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen (MENA, GCC, or other regions): You must apply for a Residence Permit for Volunteering through the Swedish Migration Agency. SKRC will issue the required Volunteer Hosting Agreement.
2. Prepare Required Documents
- Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity beyond intended stay).
- Updated CV with research background.
- Motivation letter explaining your interest in the program and proposed area of contribution.
- Copies of relevant academic qualifications.
- Proof of financial means to support yourself during your stay.
- Comprehensive health and accident insurance (valid in Sweden).
3. Submit Your Application

Our review team will assess your eligibility and match you with ongoing or upcoming research projects.
4. Visa & Permit Processing
- Upon approval, you can travel to Sweden and begin your research placement.
- Once accepted, SKRC issues the official Volunteer Hosting Agreement.
- You apply for your permit at the Swedish embassy/consulate in your country.
Important Information for Non-EU Volunteers
- The Residence Permit for Volunteering is valid for up to 12 months and cannot be extended.
- This program is not a pathway to employment or permanent residence.
- Volunteers must cover their own travel, accommodation, and living costs.
